Hi all !
I've recently prepared a linux box to be used as a backup system in my network . It's just a pentium4 with 512 Mb ram and 2 400GB Sata hard drives configured with a software raid 1 . O.S used : centOS 4.4 . Services running : samba , webmin , Proftpd .
Here is the trouble I'm getting in :
After an initial boot , If I turn off the pc immediately , everything runs perfectly but if I wait , let's say , 30 minutes or more , the shutdown sequence takes more than 20 minutes !
I already tried to change the network card without success .
I can access the pc ( through webmin or putty) without any problem . Services are running ( I'm using scheduled rsync's for my backup jobs) . It seems that everything is running flawlessly so...why does it take so long for a reboot or a shutdown ?
If this can help , another strange behaviour is that the machine losts its system time constantly although there is a brand new battery cmos .
I'm not that big linux guru so your help would be very very much appreciated !
Thanks in advance
